The Gregory P. St. Amand Memorial benefits art, music, and scout/nature projects for local youth in honor of Greg’s expressed desire to mentor creativity and nature appreciation in young people.

As of 2021, the memorial has gifted over $20,000 to local (Manhattan, KS) nonprofit programs benefiting youth.
Grant applications are accepted in February each year. We encourage local (Manhattan, KS) nonprofit programs meeting the memorial’s mission to apply for a grant.
Our grant opportunities grow each year thanks to donations and the good stewardship of the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation.
Our goal is to help local youth participate in life-enriching experiences regardless of ability to pay. A memorial grant is typically earmarked for scholarships. Program development is also considered.

Each year, Beth and Paul St. Amand select two local nonprofit programs to receive a GPS Memorial grant. BSA Troop 75 is an automatic 3rd recipient. In 2021, the memorial was able to include a 4th recipient.
$2000 Grant
FRIENDS OF SUNSET ZOO toward program development and scholarships for the new Junior Conservation Crew program.
WONDER WORKSHOP CHILDREN’S MUSEUM toward scholarships for the Summer of Wonder program.
$1500 Grant
BSA TROOP 75 toward scholarships for camp and high adventure wilderness trips.
MANHATTAN ARTS CENTER toward scholarships for youth art and music outreach programs.

The annual fundraiser for the GPS Memorial occurs during GMCF’s GrowGreenMatchDay on Earth Day in April. Donations $25 – $1000 made on Grow Green Match Day are matched 50%, making it the best day to donate to the memorial.
